If Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus addresses how to grow up in our faith, then chs.5:21-6:9 address the primary places in which this happens. In this "boots on the ground" section, Paul invites us to experience Christ in the often tricky spaces of marriage and parenting and work.

~~ Spring 2024

In this series we examine two topics often talked about at Grace: prayer and elders. We also dive into two of the foundational institutions of the universal church, baptism and communion, in order to see why these are important for our Christian faith and practice.

~~ Advent 2023

In this second round of Ephesians, we will explore the idea of growing up spiritually. If the first three chapters of Ephesians lay the foundation of spiritual birth, Ephesians 4:1-5:21 cover a number of themes that help us understand how to grow up in our faith.

~~ Fall 2023

In this "Foundations" series, we revisit the familiar topics of prayer and community. In addition, we take a look at the biblical mandate for the people of God to join together in passing on the faith to the next generation, making specific application to serving in the Grace children's ministry.

In this walk through Leviticus ch.1-16, we look at the first three major themes of Leviticus: our need for sacrifice, our need for a mediator, and our need for purity. Though many of the practices of Leviticus seem foreign to us, the spiritual principles of what is required for us to know God and to be known by him still apply to us today. Furthermore, these timeless truths can now be ours in deeper and fuller ways through the person and work of Christ.

Ephesians can be summarized simply as "God's Messy Plan." In this letter Paul first focuses on the sweeping magnitude of God's plan of redemption set forth from the foundation of the world. However, the plan often feels very messy in our day-to-day lives, and so Paul uses this letter to help us navigate the tension of trudging our way together through the greatest thing that is going on in the universe.

~~ Spring 2023

In this series we look at four foundational topics within Christianity: how to pray, how the Bible is sufficient for us, why biblical doctrine is important, and why the leadership of elders is key for spiritual growth.

~~ January 2023

For Advent this year we will return to the Psalms. More specifically, we will spend time in some of the "Psalms of Ascents," which begin with Psalm 120 and end with Psalm 134. These psalms were likely sung by God's people as they made various pilgrimages to Jerusalem, and so they provide a helpful framework for us as we journey forward on our pilgrimage through this life toward eternity with the Lord.

~~ Advent 2022

In Matthew chapters 5-7 we have what is perhaps Jesus' greatest sermon, one in which we learn from him in a way that is unparalleled throughout the rest of his recorded earthly ministry. Interestingly, in chapters 8-10 we find a catalogue of experiences with Jesus that take us beyond merely learning from him into actually living with him in day-to-day life. What can we expect from Jesus in our everyday lives? Who is he and what does he invite us to experience in him? These are the questions we seek to answer in this series.

~~Fall 2022

Every year we take an opportunity to be reminded of the importance of church. In a time when individualism rules the day, it is important to remember that part of living for Christ is living alongside his people. In this three-part series we dive into foundational characteristics of the church, institutional aspects of church membership, and organic practices of church life in the trenches.

~~ August 2022

In chapters 19-40 of Exodus God begins to shape his newly-rescued people. Rather than leaving them to themselves, he patiently and graciously works through Moses to form them into the people he has rescued them to be. In the same way, the Lord has now worked through Christ to not only rescue us from sin, but to also shape us into the people he rescued us to be.

~~ Summer 2022

In this series we take a look at the list of sins historically recognized as the "seven deadly sins." We not only examine how we can identify these sins in our lives but also learn how Christ has already defeated them on the cross and helps us to live in victory over them when we feel their tempting pull.

~~ Spring 2022

In this “Foundations” series we take a look at four foundational practices of the Christian faith as we begin a new year. Each sermon focuses on a specific practice, why it is important, and how it can be practiced both individually and corporately in order to deepen our faith in Christ.

~~ January 2022

The Psalms are a great tool for Advent, as they not only point us forward to Christ and his coming kingdom, but also give us practical ways to wait well in the present. This series not only provides an overview of the Psalter but also takes a look at some specific psalms and how they apply to the Advent season.

Life in Christ - I John - Sermon Series.png

One of John's favorite words is "life." And in 1 John he continually points to Christ as the source of eternal life, both now and in the future. In this series on 1 John we track three major "life" themes of John's letter: a life of truth, a life of love, and a life of obedience.

At Grace Church we strive to be "worshipers in community engaged in ministry." In this three-part series we explore each of those concepts from a biblical perspective, seeking to show how each of them are critical to growing and maturing in our relationship with the Lord and our relationships with others.

The beginning of a new year is a great time to reconsider some foundational aspects of the Christian life. Using the background of Jeremiah, we will consider topics such as trust, calling, spiritual leadership, Scripture, prayer, and community, all of which are key ingredients to a godly life in Christ.

During Advent we not only look back to the first coming of Christ, but we also look forward to his second coming. In this series we spend some time thinking about the eternal kingdom that Christ will usher in upon his return: what it will be like, what we will do there, as well as how we will relate to God and others.

Strength in Weakness - FE.png

In Paul's second letter to the church at Corinth one of his major themes is the Lord's strength in our weakness. Though every follower of Christ should expect a variety of struggles and hardships in this life, we can trust that this is one of the primary ways that we learn to live by faith. So, this exploration of selected passages in 2 Corinthians will help us to cultivate an eternal perspective of our temporary suffering, a perspective that points us to Christ's sufficiency and not our own.

Community During Tense Times - FE.png

Each year around this time we revisit our vision as a church to be "worshipers in community engaged in ministry." Living together in biblical community is always a challenge, but particularly so right now in the midst of very tense times. So, we will spend the next few weeks taking a look at portions of Paul's letter to the church at Rome, a congregation which also experienced tense times. In doing so, we will hear timeless wisdom for how to navigate the obstacles to community we are facing in these days.

Exodus Sermon Series - Sermons for Website.png

The people of God find themselves in a huge predicament in the opening chapters of Exodus. Enslaved and afflicted by a tyrant, they wonder if God will come through for them. Unbeknownst to them, God is indeed preparing a plan to rescue them. These sermons, which cover ch.1-6, will help us remember that God is always at work preparing his people for his redemptive purposes, ones which ultimately find their fulfillment in Christ.

In this series we take a look at Luke 17-19 where Jesus offers his final rounds of teaching before entering Jerusalem to be crucified. Each lesson in these final months of his life centers around what it looks like for us to live as citizens of God's kingdom, rather than building our own little kingdoms.

Prince+of+Peace+-+Advent+2019.jpg

Our Advent theme this year is "Prince of Peace," taken from Isaiah's prophecy of the coming Messiah in Isaiah 9:6. The experience of peace is one that we all desire in the midst of various trials and struggles in life, ones that can particularly seem to surface during the holiday season. And so we will look to God's Word as a guide for how we can experience true peace only in the Lord.

biblical sexuality - friday email.png

Earlier this year the elders identified sexuality as being a subject that needed special attention given to it, and as as result our new sermon series is entitled "Biblical Sexuality." We will begin by taking a look at some foundational concepts from the very beginning of creation that are vital for understanding both ourselves and God in relation to sexuality. In doing so we will also be reminded of the deep need to engage this topic with a healthy balance of both grace and truth, which can only happen as we look ultimately to the person and work of Christ.

Joy+in+Community+Sermon+Logo+-+Sermons+Website.jpg

As we ramp up into our weekly activities it is a good time for us to revisit the importance of living in biblical community together. To do so we will spend some time in Paul's letter to the Philippians. This new series, entitled "JOY in Community" will help us remember one of the great privileges for all whose faith is in Christ: the offer of genuine relationships with others. As we look at Paul's prayer for the church at Philippi in Philippians 1:3-11, we will be prepared to come together to pray for our church as we enter our next season of community together.

Living the Dream - Sermons.png

One of the major themes of the Joseph story is that God is always at work in the lives of those who trust in him. Though there are times it is difficult for us to see God at work in our circumstances, this story reminds us that "he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6) because "we know that for those who love God all things work together for good" (Romans 8:28).

Chasing Eternity Logo - FE - 2.png

Have you ever felt frustrated by life, feeling that despite your best efforts, life always seems to get the best of you? Why is that the experience for so many of us? And why would the Lord perhaps even set it up that way? In this challenging book from the category of Old Testament wisdom, we started to examine how wisdom can emerge from frustration, and that, ultimately, the wisdom of God is made available to us through Christ in even the most frustrating of circumstances.

Racial Reconciliation Grace Church Sermon Series.png

In these sermons, we address the gospel and race. The first of these two sermons, “A Theology of Racial Reconciliation” looks at how race is specifically included as a central component in God's plan of redemption from Genesis to Revelation. Then, “A Practice of Racial Reconciliation” addresses practical approaches that each of us can engage in when it comes to God's desire to bless all races through Christ. We always want to be learning and growing as a congregation in what it looks like to be the body of Christ, and racial reconciliation through Christ is one of the most powerful displays of gospel transformation!

2018 Advent Logo - Sermons.png

As we enter into the holiday season that can often be filled with much noise, busyness, relational struggles, sadness, and disappointments, may we remember that God is one who offers comfort. And because Christ came to earth, died on our behalf, and rose again to new life, we now have access to God as our Comforter.

Guarding Our Hearts Logo.jpg

In Proverbs 4:23, we are told to "guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." Given the importance of our hearts, we must learn to not only recognize the sins that can subtly creep into our hearts but also learn to cultivate hearts that truly delight in the Lord.

Life Together - Sermons Web 2.png

Using Paul's first letter to the Corinthians as a guide for our fall sermon series, we will look at what the Lord desires for his people when they come together, and, ultimately, how the Lord's love toward us through Christ is meant to overflow into love for one another. In this first sermon in the series, we take a look at 1 Corinthians 12:1-3, focusing on the foundation of Christian community - Jesus!

Path of Faith - Logo for Web Sermons.png

As we begin our summer sermon series entitled "The Path of Faith," we will focus on the life of Abraham.  The Lord calls us to live by faith and not by sight, but many times this is easier said than done!  As we take the summer to consider all the ups and downs of Abraham's life, we will be encouraged to persevere in our own lives of faith and be reminded to continually look to Christ as both the author and perfecter of our faith.  This first sermon in the series takes a look at Genesis 12:1-9.

IMG_2383.PNG

Have you ever wondered why church is important or what church is supposed to be like? Why do we do the things we do in church and what is it that God cares about when it comes to church? In 1 Timothy, the apostle Paul writes to the young pastor Timothy to answer these types of questions. As we take a look at this book together we will see God's heart for his church and his desire to use each and every one of us to advance his kingdom through his church.
