Engaged in Children's Ministry

Have you ever wondered what Children’s Ministry is? Well, here’s the Grace 101 answer—Children’s Ministry is designed to help families build a strong spiritual foundation based on the Word of God. We want to support and reinforce these teachings in the homes represented at Grace Church so that we can become true “worshipers in community, engaged in ministry.”

Does “worshipers in community, engaged in ministry” sound familiar? It’s on the front of our weekly worship guide to remind us of our purpose. The reason we even have a children’s ministry is to give children the opportunity to become worshipers by: (1) proclaiming God to their generation, (2) helping families build a spiritual foundation, (3) pointing children to God through Christ, and (4) instilling principles of biblical community. Have you thought about how you can be engaged in Children’s Ministry? Praying for our children to turn their hearts to the Lord and accept Christ as their Savior is the most important way! There are also four other areas in Children’s Ministry where you could possibly serve—Nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Church and Pioneer Clubs.

Recently, I came across an idea about volunteering in Children’s Ministry, which caught my attention. The thought is that the church shouldn’t be another social institution asking for help or volunteers, but the church is God’s family. It’s a place we call home, a place of relationships, a place where we belong. When we serve in the Children’s Ministry, we’re serving in our family. We’re building relationships with children and getting a glimpse into their thoughts, personalities and lives. We also have the opportunity to share our faith, our story, our walk with God! So, whether you’re related to any of the children as parents, family members or unrelated, consider investing in God’s family through the Children’s Ministry!
