Biblical Promises Concerning Prayer

A few weeks ago I ran across a helpful article that offered some simple but powerful reminders about prayer that we see in God’s Word:

1. God invites us to pray. “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us” (Psalm 62:8).

2. God is able and available to hear our prayers. “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us . . .” (Ephesians 3:20).

3. God promises to answer our prayers in accordance with his will. “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14).

4. God helps us to pray with the help of the Holy Spirit. “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26).
