Thanksgiving Sharing Service

In our shepherding groups this week, we prepared for our upcoming Thanksgiving Sharing service by sharing how we are thankful to the Lord for how he has been present in each of our lives over the past year. The Thanksgiving Sharing service is always a highlight in the worship calendar at Grace. It is always a blessing to hear the thanks given to the Lord for what he has been doing in our congregation. As we anticipate this meaningful service, here is a reminder of the following thoughts in preparing to give thanks:

  1. Remember the year. It is often hard to remember what happened last week, much less over the past year. So, take time to think through what has happened in your life this year. Ask the Lord to remind you of what events he has used to shape and form you this year.
  2. Remember the Lord. Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28-29 that those who are in Christ can trust that every life experience is intended to be used by God for his purposes. So, as you recall specific experiences of the past year, ask the Lord to help you see his purposes in each of them.
  3. Remember each other. The verse above connects giving thanks with encouraging others to seek the Lord. May we remember, as we share with others, that our goal is not to bring attention to ourselves, but to make much of God so that others will more deeply desire to follow him.

Every year it seems that we have more people who want to share than the time allotted. So, please remember to keep your sharing under two minutes in order to give others time to share. We look forward to this special time of giving thanks to the Lord together!
